New Larger Apollo® 77C Full-Port Ball Valves Offer Superior Flow Up To 2-1/2 Inches
Apollo® Valves has extended its 77C “Contractor” Series full-port bronze ball valve line to include a new 2-1/2 inch model. The new larger valve is available to ship now with either NPT (77C-100) or sweat (77C-200) end connections.
This new larger size means Apollo provides higher Cv values and superior flow for larger commercial systems, a major advantage for contractors and system designers. Most other suppliers offer full port bronze valves only up to 2 inches.
Like all Apollo 77C Series valves, the new 2-1/2 inch models feature a chrome-plated machined brass ball, rather than a cheaper hollow cast ball, giving the valve outstanding flow characteristics. Hollow balls create turbulence inside the valve that prevents true full port flow performance.
A particle flow analysis shows that some of the fluid entering a hollow ball swirls around in the empty cavity of the ball caught or is deflected back into the main flow path. This action inside the ball interrupts normal flow and causes pressure and velocity to drop significantly.
The solid ball used by Apollo provides straight-through flow and real full-port performance characteristics. It is practically invisible to the performance of the system.
Hollow balls are also more prone to failure. Contractors and system designers can avoid both flow performance and valve failure problems with the Apollo 77C.
In addition, every 77C gives contractors all the features that have made Apollo bronze ball valves the industry standard for more than 30 years. These include all-cast bodies and end caps for superior corrosion resistance, blowout-proof stems, multi-fill PTFE seats and seals, and adjustable packing. A stainless steel lever handle is standard. A machined stainless steel ball and stem are available as options.
Made completely in the USA at the company’s ISO 9001 registered plants in South Carolina, Apollo 77C models are MSS SP-110 compliant. Every valve is 100% factory tested backed by a two-year warranty. They are available in sizes from ¼-inch to 2-1/2 inches NPT or 3/8-inch to 2-1/2 inches sweat end.
